Functional Neurological Disorder

Mission Statement

The Functional Neurological Disorder Special Interest Group (FND SIG) will bring together rehabilitation psychologists with an interest in FND to enhance our collective knowledge and skillset with the goal of improving service provision.

Purpose

The FND SIG will forward this mission by creating a forum for members of Division 22 and other stakeholders interested in advancing services provision to improve quality of life for individuals with FND and related somatic symptom disorder.

Vision

Proposed goals for the FND SIG include:

  1. Develop guidelines for rehabilitation psychologists working with FND patients.

  2. Identify research priorities among rehabilitation psychologists for the clinical research of FND.

  3. Develop a shared drive where clinicians can access resources that will enhance and inform treatment of patients with FND.

  4. Develop and manage a forum where members of the FND SIG can communicate and share content regarding clinical care of individuals with FND.
