Deafness
The Special Interest Group on Deafness (SIGD) welcomes all psychologists and related professionals who are interested in providing services to the deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind populations.
ACTIVITIES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
We currently have an active listserv where professionals can seek professional consultation, networking, and resource sharing.
The SIGD releases a bi-annual SIGD newsletter. We also regularly co-host webinars on relevant topics. Announcements regarding upcoming webinars are disseminated via our listserv.
The Larry Stewart Award is presented by the SIGD biennially during the Division 22 award ceremony at the APA convention. This award is presented biennially to a psychologist who exemplifies the ideals, values, and professional contributions to research, theory, or practice that are consistent with Dr. Stewart's conviction that all people share a common psychology and humanity whether they are hearing, hard-of-hearing, or deaf. Past award recipients are listed here.
